Midfield duo James McArthur and Barry Bannan have both been called up to Scotland’s squad to face Northern Ireland and Gibraltar next week by manager Gordon Strachan.
McArthur who scored for the Eagles on Saturday in the 3-1 win against QPR, has been in good form for Crystal Palace in the Premier League this season after his move to the club in September. He has featured for Scotland twice this season already, playing in two European qualifying games against Germany and Georgia.
The other Palace player that has received a call up to the Scotland squad is Bannan who is currently on loan to Championship side Bolton, after failing to make it into Alan Pardew’s plans in the Premier League. At the Greater Manchester based club, the 25-year-old has made eight appearances only creating one goal for his current teammates.
Bannan has also appeared for Scotland twice this campaign, featuring for 58 minutes in the European qualifier against Germany whilst also appearing against England in November. The midfielder was called up for three other qualifying games but didn’t come off the bench to make an appearance.
