Watching Wilfried Zaha and Yannick Bolasie tear apart every Championship team with ease, week in and week out became the norm for Eagles fans. From a cold away day in Barnsley to Stoke in the cup, it seemed like no full-back in the second tier could stop these two magicians. The next step for these two players was obvious, the Premier League.
Last season, Bolasie made international full-backs look stupid with his mercurial playing style and unpredictable change of pace. More and more players and fans alike tuned in to watch Match of the Day to see what Bolasie would do this week and which right back, he would end the career of. Towards the back end of last season, Bolasie inspired his team to comeback from 3-0 down against Liverpool to draw 3-3 in the final ten minutes of the game. This class display of maturity, mixed with unpredictability caused many of the footballing world to take notice of what we as a club, had to offer in South London.
Fast forward to next season, the dream move back to Croydon from the North West was made a reality for Eagles fans as Wilfried Zaha came home. Finally, the young boy who played a massive part of getting the club promoted to the Premier league was back and we were all dying to see him do what he does best, tearing teams apart for the sheer hell of it.
A tough start under Neil Warnock led to a rejuvenated man under Alan Pardew. He provided some memorable performances against Kyle Walker, Filipe Luis and Glen Johnson has shown signs that he is surely on his way back to his normal self. I’m sure all Palace fans are all in agreeance in the fact that Zaha and Bolasie both deserve to be recognised as two of the most dangerous wingers that the Premier league has to offer. Because of this, we are now being accepted as a team with a lot to offer in the Premier League and for many years to come.
