Having already brought in Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint-Germain for a club record fee this summer, Palace boss Alan Pardew is lining up a move for another of his ex-players, as he targets a defender who played under him in his time at Newcastle United.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Tuttomercatoweb, Pardew is interested in full-back Davide Santon, who can play on either side of the defence, as well as on the left wing. He’s also a very precise free-kick taker, which would give Puncheon and Cabaye competition from set-pieces.
Di Marzio claims that this interest is said to come as Inter Milan push to sign Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao, who has spent many a season on the sidelines owing to the quality of Brazilian left-back Marcelo, who is first choice for Los Blancos.
Santon, who has 8 senior caps for Italy, played 82 league games for Newcastle United in his time there between 2011 and 2015. He was loaned to Inter Milan before then joining them permanently.
