Alan Pardew has admitted that it was Patrick Bamford’s ‘time to miss out’ on Saturday as the Chelsea loanee is still awaiting a proper chance to prove himself to the boss, and the fans.
When official, the English under-21 striker looked a real good signing for the Eagles, but is struggling to impress. The start to life in the Premier League for the striker has been anything but successful.
A late show in the 1-2 defeat at the hands of Arsenal is Bamford’s only league appearance to date for the Eagles, despite being named in the starting line-up for the Capital One Cup clash with Shrewsbury.

Due to the terms in his loan deal, Bamford couldn’t feature when Pardew’s men picked up three points at Chelsea, his parent club. But, when he wasn’t named amongst the squad for the Manchester City game, most fans thought he was ruled out with injury.
Connor Wickham was out with a slight knock and both Dwight Gayle and Frazier Campbell were named on the bench, Bamford missed out.
At the end of the game, Pardew stated that Bamford did NOT miss out through injury. Speaking to London 24, the boss said:
Patrick missed out just because of the way I’m doing the subs and mixing the bench up a little bit, he said. It was his turn to miss out.
