Crystal Palace have been hit with an injury crisis this season, one that has left them without a number of key players and their recent poor run of form can not be a coincidence.
However, there is some good news on the horizon after Alan Pardew spoke to Sky Sports about the statuses of some of the players who have been out of action.
Firstly, Palace will get Connor Wickham back from his suspension that he received retrospectively after appearing to elbow Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen.
Dwight Gayle has been out with a hamstring injury, but he is now fit enough to be included in the matchday squad for the tie against Watford this weekend.
Yannick Bolasie and Bakary Sako have been out for long periods, but Pardew says that both will be back in action next week.
The even better news comes next week when Bolasie andSako come back. They’re both running and that’s better for us offensively.
Finally, the manager spoke about James McArthur’s ankle ligament injury. The midfielder was initially ruled out for the rest of the season, but Pardew said that he could be back in action before the end of the campaign.
It’s always a boost for a professional not to go under the knife. The surgeon was quite happy that it should heal itself, and there’s a timeline to that of course. He could be back before the end of the season. That’s huge. We’ve had a terrible run of injuries so hopefully that’s the last one.
