Despite the FA Cup quarter-final tie against Reading looming large on the calendar, attention turns back to the Premier League for Crystal Palace and they will be desperate to pick up a win, something they’ve not managed to do in their last nine league games.
A trip to West Brom is a fixture that Palace are certainly capable of winning. Despite winning their last league game 1-0 against Everton, the Baggies will not be in the best of spirits after losing to Reading in the FA Cup last weekend.
Palace are starting to get some players back fit, but are still far from full strength for the trip to the Midlands.
Here is the XI we think Alan Pardew will select for the tie:
Goalkeeper: Wayne Hennessey
Hennessey had a little wobble in the recent past but he seems to have come through that spell to re-establish himself as the clear number one.
Right Back: Martin Kelly
Fresh from scoring the winner at White Hart Lane, Kelly will keep his place with Pape Souare still suspended.
Centre Back: Scott Dann
Easy. When he’s fit, he plays…
Centre Back: Damien Delaney
… as does Damien Delaney. Palace’s first choice pairing will start together once again.
Left Back: Joel Ward
Ward has been shifted to the left to cover for Souare’s suspension. It’s not his natural role but he’s more than capable of playing well there.
Centre Midfield: Yohan Cabaye
The Frenchman is another who’ll start when fit. Palace will look to him to dictate the game from the middle of the park.
Centre Midfield: Joe Ledley
Ledley seems to be above club captain Mile Jedinak in the pecking order at the moment and is likely to get the nod again.
Right Midfield: Wilfried Zaha
Zaha said this week that he’s eager to earn a recall to the England squad. Let’s hope he makes a case to Roy Hodgson here.
Left Midfield: Yannick Bolasie
Alan Pardew will be delighted to have Bolasie back. His pace, skill and vision make Palace a much better side.
Striker: Connor Wickham
We think Pardew will play 4-4-2 again in an attempt to get Palace scoring. Wickham did well at Spurs and will get another chance at The Hawthorns.
Striker: Emmanuel Adebayor
Adebayor is starting to find his feet at Palace and despite lacking sharpness, his quality is clear to see. Hopefully, a week of training will mean he’s up to full speed.
