According to the Guardian, Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker has begun negotiations with Premier League side Crystal Palace. The report goes on to suggest that Caulker’s value is estimated around £6.5 million, a reasonable price for the former Tottenham Hotspur youth team member.
The 24-year-old has bounced around from club to club within England ever since his first loan spell at lower-league side Yeovil Town. Following his senior team debut in 2009, Caulker has gone on to play with historic clubs such as Swansea, Cardiff, Southampton, and Liverpool.
The large centre-back most recently spent time with Liverpool at Anfield. Following a plethora of injuries, Jurgen Klopp looked to sign the QPR defender in order to fill in the team’s absences. However, Caulker went on to only appear in three matches for the Reds, eventually being demoted to a reserve role within the team.
Pardew has been looking for a replacement for the aging Damien Delaney and with Crystal Palace set to release a plethora of defenders, Caulker would be a dream for Palace.
