Christian Benteke has told BBC Sport that he will contemplate departing Anfield if he fails to be part of Liverpool’s first team plans next season.
The Belgian international, a transfer target for Jurgen Klopp whilst he was manager at Borussia Dortmund, has struggled to fit into his Liverpool plans.
His frustration of not being in the manager’s plans for the upcoming season has led to Crystal Palace leading the pack interested in bringing the forward to their club.
Benteke has only started eight matches since Brendan Rodgers departed from the Merseyside club in October. Rodgers originally signed the forward from Aston Villa in 2015 for £32.5m after impressing in his first few seasons in the Premier League.
Despite being the club’s second most expensive signing of all time, Klopp has failed to utilise him as a first-choice striker. The German has been open about his squad selection and his preference being Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi.

Benteke spoke about how he will consider his options for the next season after Euro 2016:
When Klopp arrived I saw that I wasn’t in his plans. That was frustrating because I knew that during my first season at Aston Villa he wanted me.
I still have a contract at Liverpool and I’d like to stay there, if I remain in the coach’s plans.
Christian Benteke is currently away with the Belgium national team ahead of their Euro 2016 tournament. The nation play their first game against Italy on the 13th June.
