It’s that time of the year when managers reflect on their sides with the releasing of players that haven’t quite fitted into the teams plans. Former Arsenal strikers Emmanuel Adebayor and Marouane Chamakh failed to make a real impact in the Palace side this season. The pair failed to score a single goal as Connor Wickham shone out as the main man up front for the club.
Alan Pardew will be looking to fill the hole left in the side with two experienced forwards leaving the side. We have drawn up seven strikers that could realistically replace them and partner Connor Wickham in attack. Some of them have already been linked to the club and others are currently performing at Euro 2016.
Let us know your thoughts on the players we have listed and which one you would rather have. For a list of other players who have also been released from Crystal Palace click here.
Khouma Babacar
The Fiorentina ace was linked with a move to Selhurst Park after January. Babacar has impressed in Serie A and in the Europa League. The 23-year-old is a welcomed addition from fans craving a powerful forward.
Hal Robson-Kanu
The Welsh international was released by Reading having not had his contract renewed. If he has a good Euro 2016, the Eagles may be tempted to invest in the player. He has already scored against Slovakia in Wales’ first game of the campaign.
Arkadiusz Milik
Milik has had a fantastic campaign for Ajax in the Eredvise scoring 20 goals. He has extended that form into the Euros scoring in the first game. If Palace are willing to splash the cash, they may be able to tempt one of Europe’s brightest young prospects.
Cedric Bakambu
The Congolese forward has seen one of his team-mates already move to the Premier League. With Eric Bailly heading to Manchester United, the Villareal forward could be the perfect man to fill the gap needed up front. The small and quick forward scored 20 goals in La Liga last season.
Gregoire Defrel
Defrel makes his trade in Italy for the Serie A side Sassuolo. The French forward is strong and tall, leading the club to finish 6th in the division. Swansea City and Roma have also been tracking the striker so that will increase the price of the player.
Christian Benteke
Despite being away with Belgium in France for the European Championships, Benteke stated he was thinking about his future prior to the tournament. He has failed to break into Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans so may be considering going to get Premier League football elsewhere.
Demba Ba
The former Chelsea and Newcastle striker is currently experiencing football in Turkey for Besiktas. But Palace may be tempted to move back to the Premier League and South London may be one of the destinations that could benefit from his threat.
