Palace miss out on Berahino as the striker looks to the future
Crystal Palace have missed out on the signing of West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino after sources close to the player confirm his future to ESPN.
The 22-year-old has been subject to a bid from the Eagles this summer as well as a number of teams including Stoke City; in the recent report however, it has been said that the forward is to see out his contract at the Baggies.
Alan Pardew and the club saw a reported £20m bid knocked back by the midlands club last week, in their hunt to find a striker to join the summer signings at Selhurst Park, which include: Andros Townsend, Steve Mandanda and James Tomkins.
Liverpool striker Christian Benteke is one of a number of players that have been linked with a move to the club recently and with only Connor Wickham being the only fit striker ahead of the new season, after Frazier Campbell picking up an injury against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday night, the race to find another striker has intensified.
The 23-year-old who joined the Eagles from Sunderland in 2015 was a popular player last season, scoring on six occasions, including in Palace’s FA Cup semi-final against Watford.
