Palace to rival Hull for Mason
Crystal Palace have joined Southampton and Hull in the race to sign Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason, according to the Daily Mirror.
The latter are understood to have opened talks with Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who are willing to offload the England international, and are currently leading the race.
However, Palace and Southampton are also understood to be interested in Mason.
Mason rose to prominence in Pochettino’s first season at the club, when his sublime form earned him a call-up to the England senior squad but fell down the pecking order at White Hart Lane upon the arrival of Dele Alli from Milton Keynes Dons.
Under Roy Hodgson, Mason was called up to multiple England squads but has just one international cap.
The 25-year-old’s chances were then hindered further when Victor Wanyama was signed from Southampton earlier this summer.
While Hull lead the current race, both Southampton and the Eagles will be able to outbid the Tigers, who are reluctant to spend money until their takeover is complete.
