Crystal Palace are understood to be interested in Toffee’s midfielder James McCarthy, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 25-year-old is a target for both Palace and Championship side Newcastle United who both will be required to put in a £20m bid for the Republic of Ireland international at this moment in time, a price that could change dependent on arrivals at Goodison Park.
A move for the Everton player would see James McArthur reunited with his former teammate from their time at both Hamilton Academical & Wigan Athletic, the latter of which saw their old side win the FA Cup against Manchester City in 2013

Despite Newcastle being optimistic over a move for the midfielder, it would be understandable if McCarthy would be favourable of a move to Selhurst Park, allowing him to remain in the Premier League and play next to a player he knows well.
The player would be an ideal replacement for former Palace skipper Mile Jedinak who joined Aston Villa earlier in the month, after seeing his game time at Palace become fewer and fewer.
