Crystal Palace have made a £7m to Sunderland for full-back Patrick van Aanholt, as per a report from John Percy of The Telegraph.

Sam Allardyce is keen to bring in at least one full back, and possibly two. He’s seemingly been priced out of a move for Leicester’s Jeff Schlupp but is still hopeful of getting Carl Jenkinson on loan from Arsenal.

Allardyce worked with Van Aanholt at Sunderland with the left-back playing a big role in keeping the Black Cats in the Premier League.

Unfortunately for Eagles fans, Palace find themselves in a relegation battle and it looks like Big Sam wants to bring in some experienced players to ensure that he is managing in the top-flight next year.

However, Sunderland are expected to reject the bid for a number of reasons. Firstly, they are keen to keep hold of their better players but if they do decide to cash in, they won’t want to be strengthening a direct rival.
