Yann M’Vila wanted by Sam Allardyce
Sam Allardyce wants to bring the band back together at Crystal Palace.
After agreeing terms to sign Sunderland left-back Patrick van Aanholt this month, Allardyce is eyeing a move to bring Rubin Kazan midfielder Yann M’Vila to Selhurst Park, say the Guardian.
Like Van Aanholt, Allardyce worked with M’Vila at Sunderland last season during the midfielder’s loan spell at the Stadium of Light and he’s eager to reunite with the Frenchman.
I informed the Chief Executive of Sunderland that I did not wish to
join the club. I am grateful to them for their understanding…— Yann M'Vila Officiel (@yannmvilafr) December 7, 2016
M’Vila was set to sign for Sunderland at the start of January, but after talks with the club’s chief executive, the 26-year-old has his move to the North East cancelled. Sunderland confirmed the news in an official club statement.
The former Rennes midfielder signed a new contract with his Russian employers which contains a release clause worth £11m. The Russian transfer window opens on Wednesday which gives Palace a small window of opportunity to get the deal done.
Tasked with getting Palace out of the relegation scrap they find themselves in, Allardyce has gone down the route of bringing in players who he knows can do a job for him – not the worst tactic.
