Samba moves on after failing to secure Palace contract
Christopher Samba is training at Championship side Aston Villa after being looked at by Sam Allardyce ahead of a potential trial, however, it was deemed that the 32-year-old was not fit enough.
The defender had previously been at Panathinaikos where he made six appearances, with four of those coming during the club’s Europa League campaign, missing two games through injury.
Samba has spent a large amount of time in England with seven years at Blackburn after joining the club in 2007 before leaving to join Russian side Anzhi, where he spent a year before joining Queens Park Rangers for a season.
The former Republic of Congo international has commanded fees of £43.44m throughout his career with any possible move to Aston Villa being only his third free transfer.
Steve Bruce’s side are currently 17th in the Championship and have conceded a total of 13 goals in their previous six games. Villa last won a league fixture on Boxing Day against Burton Albion, with seven defeats and two draws since.
