Regardless of whether Crystal Palace are in the Premier League or the Championship next season, it’s certain that changes will need to be made.
The Eagles have been suffering a treacherous campaign so far and sit just above the relegation zone, but are by no means safe from the drop and will need to ensure that they are at their very best for the remainder of the season.
Sam Allardyce came in as manager to replace Alan Pardew and although he’s found positive results hard to come by in South London, he’s steadied the ship somewhat.
However, it could be argued that this Crystal Palace side is not really his own. When the summer comes around, he’ll be free to manipulate his squad how he wants it to be and new signings will definitely be a part of that.
So, we’ve picked out some players that have already played under Allardyce that he could consider signing!
Lamine Kone
Kone was a key player for Allardyce at Sunderland and he certainly got the best out of the central defender. With Mamadou Sakho only on loan at Selhurst Park, a powerful defender like Kone would be a good shout in the summer if Sakho doesn’t stay beyond his expected tenure.
Ravel Morrison
Controversial midfielder Morrison is currently on loan at QPR from Lazio. Although discipline was always an issue for the enigmatic playmaker, he worked under Allardyce at West Ham and showed signs of serious quality.
Perhaps a move back to the Premier League with Allardyce isn’t totally out of the question.
Wahbi Khazri
Khazri hasn’t played as much as he would have expected under David Moyes at Sunderland but was impressive under Allardyce there. He’s quick, tricky and has a rocket of a shot.
Carl Jenkinson
Jenkinson is another player that worked under Allardyce at West Ham. He’s been desperately unlucky with injuries but would offer versatility, experience and work ethic.
Jermaine Defoe
With Sunderland looking nailed on to go down, it’d come as no surprise to see Allardyce look towards Defoe in the summer. He’s nearing the end of his career but has an unbelievable instinct in front of goal and would be an excellent addition.
