McArthur pulls out of Scotland squad

Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur has pulled out of the Scotland squad.

According to a report from the Croydon Advertiser today, the Scotsman will not be featuring for Gordon Strachan’s men in their fixtures this month having picked up an injury.

McArthur was excluded from the Palace squad that took on Watford at the weekend, beating them in an important 1-0 victory thanks to an own goal from Troy Deeney at Selhurst Park.

Although the reasoning for McArthur’s exclusion from the match day squad on the day was not specified by Eagles manager Sam Allardyce, the report does state that a knock has been picked up by the midfielder and he will not be joining up with the Scotland squad this week.

Strachan was hoping to have the Palace man available for selection ahead of his side’s two clashes against Canada and Slovenia later on this month.

Allardyce will hope that McArthur can make a quick recovery and return to the Palace fold ready for the remainder of the season.
