Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni has signed a new one-year contract to keep him at the club for the 2017/18 campaign, the Croydon Advertiser have reported.
The Argentinian is something of a cult hero at Selhurst Park and his deal at the club was set to expire at the end of next month, bringing a close to his impressive 13-year tenure with the Eagles.
However, Speroni has penned a new deal at the club and will remain within the ranks ahead of the coming season.
Palace secured their safety on Sunday afternoon with a comprehensive 4-0 win at home against Hull, and Sam Allardyce confirmed in his post-match interview that Speroni is to be kept hold of for a further season.
The 37-year-old has been inevitably pushed out of contention and Wayne Hennessey is the first choice goalkeeper at the club, but he’s a good figure to have around the place and the news of a new deal is positive.
