The experienced boss has been out of the job since just after midway through the season after he was dismissed from his role at Leicester City. After Sam Allardyce confirmed his departure from Palace, Ranieri was claimed to be of interest to Steve Parish as he began his hunt for a new chief.
However, the former Monaco boss has returned to France to take charge of Nantes and will be looking to hit the ground running in Ligue 1.
Palace have been heavily linked with a swoop for former Deportivo Alaves manager Mauricio Pellegrino, while the likes of Frank De Boer and Sean Dyche have also been linked with a move.
