In recent days, ex-Manchester United and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has been linked with a possible move back to London, with Crystal Palace leading the chase for the Fenerbahce star.

Fenerbahce’s local NtvSpor reporter Onur Tugrul has confirmed new Palace boss Frank de Boer’s interest in his Dutch compatriot, whose future in Turkey is currently unknown.

Fenerbahce manager Aykut Kocaman recently added to speculation over van Persie, saying that although he wanted to keep the striker if the right offer came in things could change.

Van Persie scored 18 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions last season, proving he retains the eye for goal that English fans will remember him for, and he would still have plenty to offer Palace despite turning 34 soon.

Fenerbahce have apparently already begun to prepare for van Persie’s departure, with negotiations for ex-Newcastle United forward Seydou Doumbia rumoured to be underway.
