Crystal Palace have agreed a deal to sign centre-back Bruno Martins Indi from Portuguese club FC Porto, according to a report on Sky Sports.
The defender looked set to join Stoke City following his successful loan spell with the club last season but Palace manager Frank de Boer seems to have persuaded the player to join the Eagles.
The 25-year-old was impressive for Stoke last season and was a regular starter for the Potters. It has been no secret that Palace are looking to sign a centre back in this summer’s transfer window and it seems that Martins Indi is the man to come in.
Palace have been chasing Mamadou Sakho who was on loan at Selhurst Park last season but is valued by Liverpool at £30m. Therefore, Martins Indi serves as a cheaper alternative to Sakho and also has Premier League experience.
Porto are looking for around £13m for the Dutch defender and Palace have gone ahead and submitted a bid, which has been accepted by the club.
Stoke were confident of signing the defender but they were also targeting Kurt Zouma which put a starting place for Indi in doubt.
The signing of Indi will be good to hear for Palace fans as they look to start life under new manager De Boer.
