Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer has confirmed that a deal for Jairo Riedewald is close to being confirmed and that he will be officially revealed as a Crystal Palace player soon, according to a report on Football London.

Palace have been pursuing Riedewald for some time and had to beat competition from other Premier League clubs for his signature.

“It’s not 100 per cent done so we have to wait [for Riedewald]. Hopefully it is going to be a very short time,” said de Boer.

The young defender will become De Boer’s second signing at Crystal Palace after securing Ruben Loftus Cheek on loan from London rivals Chelsea.

The 20-year-old has been one of the best young players for Ajax over the past few seasons and held down a regular place in the side.

He was a crucial part of their team on their journey to the UEFA Europa League final last season where they were beaten by Manchester United.

De Boer has been keen to strengthen his defence ever since he was appointed as manager at Selhurst Park and he made Riedewald his priority signing and it seems that he has got what he desired.

The youngster is calm and composed on the ball and is also not afraid to get stuck into challenges which is what is required in the Premier League.

He is expected to be unveiled as a Palace player very soon.
