Palace complete Riedewald signing
Crustal Palace have completed the signing of Ajax defender Jairo Riedewald, for a fee in the region of £8m.
The 20-year-old joins former Ajax boss Frank de Boer at Palace, as he looks to tighten up his defence for the start of the new season.
Riedeald is a very versatile defender, competent at either left or right-back, however he is usually played as a centre-back.
The move came after Liverpool valued Mamahdou Sakho, who the second half of last season on loan at Palace, at £30 million, which was a fee Palace were unprepared to pay.
De Boer was also keen to bring Riedewald’s Ajax team-mate Joel Veltman to Selhurst Park, but no offer has materialised as of yet.
Riedewald, who has three caps for the Netherlands, becomes Crystal Palace’s second summer signing, following the arrival of loan signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who the Eagles prised away from Premier League champions Chelsea.
