Crystal Palace defender Pape Souare says that he feels happy and blessed to be back training with the club.
The left-back has been out since September 2016 after he was involved in a car accident.
Souare was airlifted to the nearest hospital and treated for a broken leg and jaw.
The traumatic experience put the future of Souare’s career in doubt but he has battled back to fitness and is now training with the Palace squad.
Speaking to The Mirror, Souare said this:
I heard you were looking for me. Feeling blessed to come back for my first training session with the first team.
I want to say thank you to all of you for your love and support on this journey! I read every message and I hope to make you all happy soon.
Souare is now on a mission to return to fitness so that he can make his long-awaited return to the Premier League.
The defender has played 46 Premier League games since his arrival at the club in 2015.
Souare was an integral part of the side during the 15/16 season as he notched 34 league appearances, 41 in all competitions.
However, due to his tragic accident, he was only able to play four games in the entirety of last season.
