Crystal Palace boss Frank de Boer has stated that recruiting a new goalkeeper is his top priority for the remainder of the transfer window.
The Eagles are lacking depth in the goalkeeping slots, with Steve Mandanda having sealed his switch back to Marseille, as expected, earlier on in the window.
De Boer has just Wayne Hennessey and Julian Speroni at his disposal, with the season kicking off this weekend. The Dutchman deems these two options to be insufficient, and is keen to land a new shot stopper before the window slams shut at the end of the month.
A plethora of goalkeepers have been linked, with a reported £3.5m bid for West Ham’s Adrian having already been rejected. Jeroen Zoet has also been linked with a move from PSV.
As quoted by the Croydon Advertiser, De Boer reinforced how imperative it is for Palace to sign a goalkeeper in the near future, whether it be a first choice or a backup.
I need a third goalkeeper. If it is a number one or a number three, we have to get one. It depends on the market, who we can get. It depends what is available.
It could be a young promising goalkeeper or maybe someone who can battle for the first-choice goalkeeper.
That I do not know right now. But for sure we need one because we train with two.
