Palace made an offer for Lima, agent reveals
Crystal Palace made an offer for Santos midfielder Lucas Lima, the player’s agent has revealed.
Speculation has been mounting regarding Lima’s future in Brazil in recent times, with his contract set to expire at the end of the calendar year.
The 27-year-old is being courted by a host of top clubs across Europe, with Premier League high-flyers Manchester United cited with genuine interest, his agent has confirmed.
Speaking to Turkish media, as cited by Haber Turk, Lima’s representative Riccardo Badia listed the clubs that have taken a keen interest in signing the creative midfielder.
There’s competition for Inter. Roma, Manchester United and Barcelona are also interested. However, the player himself feels more ready for Serie A.
However, more interestingly in Palace’s case, Badia also revealed that the Eagles were one of the clubs to have made an official offer for his client.
Lucas’ contract ends on December 31st. For several years the important clubs of Europe are following him. Crystal Palace €15m, Fenerbahce €20m in offers, but strangely Santos rejected them.
Badia did not specify when this offer was lodged for Lima, but it’s likely that the Eagles were willing to go head to head with Turkish outfit Fenerbahce for his signature in the summer transfer window.
