Crystal Palace’s chase for a new striker looks set to go on after they missed out on Alberto Gilardino.
The experienced Italian was without a club following his release from Pescara, and Palace were reportedly keen to land him as they look to secure a new striker.
However, it has since been confirmed that Serie B side Spezia Calcio have landed Gilardino on a free, with the veteran keen to remain in his homeland.

Palace are on the lookout for a new striker from the free market, following the news that Christian Benteke will be ruled out for at least six weeks with ligament damage.
The Eagles have been linked with Rickie Lambert and Carlton Cole in recent weeks, with the former having confirmed his retirement from football on Monday.
Palace played with Bakary Sako up front against Manchester United at the weekend.
