Crystal Palace are set to battle with London rivals West Ham United for the signature of Arsenal’s attacking midfielder Jack Wilshere, who is looking to leave the Emirates in January, according to a report on the Daily Star.
Wilshere is looking to get more first team action in an attempt to convince England manager Gareth Southgate to select him in the squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The Gunners will not consider a loan move for Wilshere and if he joins Crystal Palace in January, it will have to be on a permanent basis.
However, the Gunners have placed a £20m price tag on Wilshere. But with the player pursuing a move, they may relax that price slightly which gives Palace hope of securing his signature.
Palace boss Roy Hodgson has targeted Wilshere as the player to fire his side away from relegation after picking up zero points without finding the back of the net even once this season.
West Ham are also in the race to sign Wilshere but the lack of competition for an attacking midfield position at Palace may convince the midfielder to move to Selhurst Park.
The midfielder has featured twice for Arsenal this season and has been impressive. He is yet to appear in the Premier League.
