Crystal Palace’s pursuit of Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun has been well documented over the last few months.
The Eagles made a last ditch attempt to lure the Turkey international to Selhurst Park in the summer, and are understood to have been keeping tabs on him since the move fell through.
However, it doesn’t look as though Tosun is particularly enthused by the prospect of joining Palace, and has been discussing how happy he is with his decision to remain at Besiktas.
As quoted by Turkish-Football, the clinical forward said:
Crazy numbers are being quoted for my transfer fee right now.
Of course it makes me proud especially after my near escape with Crystal Palace. I wanted to join them at the time but in retrospect staying here turned out to be the right now.
A host of Premier League clubs have been linked with Tosun, and it looks as though Newcastle are leading the race for his services, if various other reports are to be believed.
Palace remain on the lookout for a new striker with Christian Benteke still sidelined, but it doesn’t look as though their aim to land Tosun will be possible.
Tosun is reportedly valued at £20 million by Besiktas.
