Palace plan to extend Selhurst Park’s capacity
Crystal Palace are reportedly planning to extend the capacity of Selhurst Park.
According to a report from the Evening Standard, Palace chairman Steve Parish is keen to develop Selhurst Park and will look to increase the capacity of the ground from around 26,000 to a huge 40,000.
Parish informed supporters on Wednesday night that a major announcement would be made in December and if the Evening Standard are to be believed, this will be regarding the redevelopment of Selhurst Park.
Palace’s home stadium is one of the most iconic in the Premier League and brief but informal talks with Croydon Council have apparently already taken place.
Selhurst Park has been the home of Crystal Palace for well over 93 years now and while changes are set to be made, it will remain the Eagles’ own turf for the foreseeable future.
The report states that plans have been in place to extend Palace’s capacity since their return to the top flight in 2013. It looks like they will now finally get their wish by significantly improving their stadium.
