Palace to race Swansea to sign Dembele
Crystal Palace are reportedly, along with Swansea City and a number of other clubs, tracking Grimsby Town youngster Siriki Dembele, as per HITC.
The 21-year-old has been a revelation at Blundell Park this season, making 23 appearances for Grimsby in all competitions, in this his first season at the Mariners.
The winger has scored four goals this season, including a brace at Cheltenham Town in a crucial 3-2 win for Grimsby.
The League Two outfit sit 12th in the fourth tier, but the 21-year-old Scot, who had a trial at Blundell Park this summer and was signed from the Nike Academy, has still attracted interest.
Crystal Palace and Swansea City, both looking to add to their attack to help stay up in the Premier League, have been said to have been watching October’s EFL Young Player of the Month.
Dembele is the older brother of the Celtic 14-year-old star Karamoko Dembele, who was playing for Celtic U20’s at 13. So the pair do look like they can grow into a force, and the elder could be heading to the English top flight.
Russell Slade’s Grimsby are just three points away from the Play-Offs, and Dembele will continue to play a vital role in their fight to get there. However, whether he is there by January or at better pastures is yet to be seen.
