Hodgson praises “super professional” Kelly
Roy Hodgson has hailed the “super professional” Martin Kelly, who played just his second game of the season last weekend.
As with every clubs, it is difficult to find a place for every player over the course of the season, and therefore some players will be left feeling like they’ve received the short shrift.
Martin Kelly is not one of those players, according to Crystal Palace boss Hodgson, who has praised the professionalism the former Liverpool defender has shown. Talking about whether or not he hesitated to put Kelly in at the weekend, Hodgson said;
He is not only a good player but also a super professional and a type that coaches dream of, someone who is not only good at his job but also never misses a day’s training and is looking to do the very best he can do.
I had no hesitation to put him in and it was no surprise to me that he played well, and I am pleased for him because he had to wait his turn over a long period of time because we have strong contenders for the two central defensive positions and he is another one.
It is good to know that we have that strength in depth and also good that Martin can play in other positions, and as far as I am concerned he is the type of person who if we are going to get out of the trouble we found ourselves in then his contribution between now and the end of the season will be enormous.”
