Crystal Palace were left frustrated to have come away from their clash against Bournemouth with just a point to show for their efforts.
The visitors took the lead early on as a well-worked set-piece found its way to Jermain Defoe, who made no mistake from close range.
Palace did find their way back into the game, though, as Luka Milivojevic coolly dispatched his penalty to level things. Soon after, Palace netted through Scott Dann, making it 2-1 to the hosts.
However, a frantic five minutes was not yet over, and Bournemouth once again netted just before the interval. Defoe was at it again, this time with an impeccable dink over Julian Speroni.
The talking point came in stoppage time at the end of the match, though. Palace were awarded a penalty and against his manager, teammates and fans’ orders, Christian Benteke stepped up as he looked to end his goal drought.
Unsurprisingly, his penalty was pathetic. The spoils were shared on the day, with the scoreline finishing 2-2.
Here are our Crystal Palace player ratings.
Julian Speroni - 6
Had absolutely no chance with either goal. Made a good save to deny Ibe.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah - 6
The youngster turned in a cultured display in the absence of Ward.
James Tomkins - 6
A solid, if unspectacular display at the back from Tomkins.
Mamadou Sakho - 6
Was composed when on the field but was forced off with injury. Palace fans will hope that the extent of the problem is not too severe.
Jeffrey Schlupp - 5
It wasn’t a good performance from Schlupp. He gave the ball away far too much.
Luka Milivojevic - 7
A typically strong display in the middle. Dispatched his penalty in expert fashion.
Yohan Cabaye - 7
Was always looking to create from deep and got the assist for Palace’s second.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek - 5
Like Schlupp, he worked hard but failed to impact the game.
Andros Townsend - 6
Townsend was energetic throughout and provided a decent option out on the flank.
Wilfried Zaha - 8
Undoubtedly Palace’s best player. He won both penalties for his side and was too hot to handle for Bournemouth’s shaky backline.
Christian Benteke - 1
He had the audacity not only to grab the ball and selfishly take such a crucial spot-kick, but to approach it so casually. It was a diabolical penalty and a truly unacceptable act from Benteke. He should be dropped.
