Crystal Palace linked with a move for Leonardo Ulloa
Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing Leonardo Ulloa from Leicester City on loan.
According to the printed edition of the Mirror, as reported by the Express, the Eagles want to bolster their attacking options and will move for the out of favour Leicester man in the coming days.
Aston Villa appeared to be in pole position to land the experienced striker on loan until the end of the season. However, it seems Roy Hodgson is keen and will look to bring the Argentine forward to South London this month.
Ulloa has not featured regularly for Leicester this season. Under both Craig Shakespeare and Claude Puel, he has been used only as a rotational option, with all of Jamie Vardy, Shinji Okazaki, Kelechi Iheanacho and Islam Slimani ahead of him in the pecking order.
Palace, though, lack depth up front and are evidently hoping to secure the 31-year-old on a temporary basis.
It’s claimed that Palace have agreed to pay the full extent of Ulloa’s wages until the end of the season, which is reported to be worth £60,000 per week.
It will be interesting to see how the proposed move for Ulloa unravels given Premier League rulings with regards to loan deals, though. Clubs are only able to have two players from fellow English top flight clubs on a temporary basis in their first-team squad, meaning that either Timothy Fosu-Mensah or Ruben Loftus-Cheek would need to depart if Ulloa is to be recruited.
