Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says that he is ‘confident’ that striker Christian Benteke will still be at Selhurst Park next season.
The big Belgian frontman has looked a shadow of his former self this campaign, scoring just three times for the Eagles in 29 appearances.
However, the former Aston Villa and Liverpool man has the backing of his manager, who was quick to remind people how integral he was in ensuring Palace remained a Premier League club in the previous season. Hodgson said;
He signed a long-term deal when he got to the club. I see no reason why he or the club are anxious to break that in any way.
He’ll tell you it’s not been a great season in terms of goals, but he’ll also tell you he’s a lot better than this.
He got over 15 goals last term to help keep Palace up.
Benteke signed for the South London side for a deal worth £32million in total in the summer of 2016.
