# Palace Takeover Remains On Course

The rumoured takeover of the club still looks to be on course to happen after Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish said on BBC 5 Live that he would “have a big stake in the club going forward” no matter how it worked out.

It first emerged in October that the club were being looked at by a group of people led by American billionaire Josh Harris who already owns two teams in the States, the NBA franchise Philadelphia 76ers and NHL club New Jersey Devils; the American was reportedly interested in Aston Villa, however, Crystal Palace were deemed a more affordable option for the private equity investor.

Steve Parish was a guest on Sportsweek yesterday morning, talking about owning the club and what goes into a transfer window from a Premier League club looking for players. Presenter Garry Richardson also asked questions about the rumours of a takeover and looked for the co-chairman to shed some light on the situation; when asked whether CPFC2010 are still looking to sell the club, Parish said:

“I’ve said all along if somebody can move the club forward faster than we can, then we would look at it as a group of four people that came along to save our football club.

“You will leave a football club. Our football club has been in existence since 1905, we are custodians of it right now and you will leave it. A lot of people don’t manage their exit, they just hang on and hang on so we talk to anyone. I talk to anyone I think can help the football club and unfortunately sometimes that gets into the public domain which isn’t great.”

After being told that the club are always talking to potential investors about taking over the club, Richardson asked whether the deal hinges on Palace remaining in the Premier League or not.

“No, I don’t think so. That’s not the sense I get but obviously I can’t read peoples’ minds and maybe there is,” Parish said.

“I wouldn’t be going anywhere. However it worked out, I would have a big stake in the club going forward so in that regard I would be a buyer and a seller, if you like so everybody is interested and aligned on that sort of thing if I stay around and we’ve got to get it right.”

Stephen Browett also looks set to remain on the clubs board alongside co-chairman Steve Parish with the latter having a larger stake percentage in the club compared to the former.
