# Palace To Hijack Leicester’s Bid For Former Inter Milan Midfielder

Crystal Palace are eyeing a move to hijack Leicester City’s bid to sign Italian midfielder Alessandro Cannataro this summer, according to a report by the [Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/leicester-city-transfer-news-crystal-palace-could-attempt-to-hijack-foxes-move-for-former-inter-milan-midfielder-alessandro-cannataro-10430855.html).

The former Inter Milan midfielder was released earlier this summer after his contract was terminated with still a year left to run.

Cannataro was understood to be on the verge for signing for the Foxes after completing a successful trial at the club.

Watford were also monitoring the situation of the former Italy U19 international captain, but never made a move for the player, and now Palace have entered the race.

The 20-year-old is now being looked at by Alan Pardew to add some depth to his midfield ranks, after stalling on signing on the dotted line with Leicester.

Leicester, fearing the worst, have looked at contingency plans, with a £5.6m move for SC Caen midfielder N’Golo Kante, who’s also been linked with a move to West Ham.
