# Cabaye: We need Zaha to be the man

Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye has praised his team-mate Wilfried Zaha but has urged the young England international winger to maintain a consistent level of performances.

Zaha played well against his former club Manchester United at the weekend and was praised by numerous people connected with the club, including Cabaye who [said](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/wilfried-zaha-hailed-alan-pardew-6747163):

> Wilf is a talented player. He needs to keep working hard and play every game like this one because we need him.

> He’s confident now and just wants to play his football. His football is to take on his full-back and try to make a difference on the right or left. He did that against United.

The 22-year-old winger is currently in his second spell at Selhurst Park. He left in 2013 to join Manchester United but returned having failed to make much on an impact at Old Trafford.

He is still a young player, but the call from Cabaye for more consistency from Zaha is probably justified. The winger has played over 200 games in his professional career, so a lack of experience can’t be used as an excuse for up and down performances.

Alan Pardew will hope that Zaha can take the next step and develop into an even better player, like Cabaye mentioned, as having a winger with such pace and ability can be a huge weapon.
