# Striking pair set to miss Liverpool clash

Alan Pardew may find his attacking options limited significantly this weekend as Palace travel to Anfield this weekend for a tough test against a Liverpool side that seems to be improving rapidly under new manager Jürgen Klopp.

Most significantly, [Euro Sport reports](https://www.eurosport.co.uk/football/dwight-gayle-an-injury-doubt-for-crystal-palace-s-trip-to-liverpool_sto4981062/story.shtml) that Dwight Gayle faces a fitness test before the game because of a hamstring problem, and may join Connor Wickham, Marouane Chamakh, and Lee Chung-yong on the injury list.

Gayle has had significant success against the Reds, scoring four times in four career games against them, including a double in the thrilling 3-3 draw at Selhurst Park in May 2014.

However, Palace looks to receive a significant defencive boost if Pape Souaré returns to the side as expected. Souaré has missed the past three Palace matches.

A victory by the Eagles would see them leapfrog Liverpool in the table and could see them climb as high as seventh, bolstering their chances at attaining European football next season.
