# Palace make bid for Serie A striker

Crystal Palace have held talks with the representatives of the Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar, according to a report by [David Hytner and Dominic Fifield of The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jan/05/emmanuel-adebayor-watford-crystal-palace).

The 22-year-old has scored six times in 14 matches in all competitions this year, but he is yet to establish himself as a regular in Mario Cognigni’s side.

Fiorentina tend to set up with a lone striker, with two attacking midfielders playing in behind, and it looks like Babacar is below both Nikola Kalinic and the fit-again Giuseppe Rossi in the pecking order.

According to [Giuseppe Muro of the Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/crystal-palace-transfer-news-eagles-table-9m-khouma-babacar-bid-a3149666.html), Palace have submitted a £9million bid for the Senegalese U20 international, as it becomes ever-more apparent that Alan Pardew is keen to bring in at least one striker in January.

Reports have been circulating for weeks, with numerous forwards being linked with moves to Selhurst Park.

[Loic Remy](https://readcrystalpalace.com/2016/01/04/palace-join-race-favour-striker/), [Benik Afobe](https://readcrystalpalace.com/2016/01/05/championship-striker-linked-palace-move/), [Moussa Dembele](https://readcrystalpalace.com/2016/01/06/crystal-palace-join-fight-sign-moussa-dembele/) and [Emmanuel Adebayor](https://readcrystalpalace.com/2016/01/06/palace-watford-offer-contract-ex-tottenham-striker/) are just a few of the names linked with Palace in recent weeks, and we can now add Khouma Babacar to that list.
