# Palace use phone app to ensure players do their homework

Alan Pardew has revealed in an interview that Crystal Palace set their players ‘homework’ based on their opponents and that the club use a special phone app to ensure that the players complete their extracurricular work.

Pardew was speaking on the [BBC’s NFL Show](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/american-football/37649690) and revealed that his analysis team use the app to allow his players to watch video clips of the men they’ll be coming up against in the upcoming game.

In the past, bar quizzing the player and hoping he doesn’t get a question right, it was tough for a manager to know if his players had read the information that was given to them, or if they’d studied the video clips.

However, Pardew revealed that the app that Palace uses knows exactly which players have and haven’t logged in and watched the clips, so there can be no lying to the boss as he has the proof in black and white.

He said:

> We have an app where a player can go and see his opponent, all the clips, everything. We know when we’ve been on there too because it registers with our main computer. If I said to you ‘have been you been watching your player?’ and you said ‘yeah gaffer, yeah yeah yeah’ and I see you haven’t used it, I know.
