# Alan Pardew relieved of his duties as Crystal Palace manager

Crystal Palace have [released a statement](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/club-statement-cpfc-3482525.aspx) this afternoon confirming that they have asked Alan Pardew to step down as Crystal Palace manager.

Chairman Steve Parish has had this to say on Pardew’s departure:

“I would like to put on record our sincere gratitude for the tremendous service Alan has given us, both in his time here as Manager and previously as a player.  Following a fantastic second half of 2014/15, the 2015/16 season culminated in only narrowly missing out on winning the FA cup as well as securing our Premier League place for a record breaking fourth time. During his tenure Alan’s hard work and dedication were without question, he has improved so many areas of the Club and we wish him the very best for the future.

“With games now coming thick and fast over the holiday period the Club are hoping to put someone in place as quickly as possible but have nothing to say about a replacement at this time.”

Since taking over the club in January 2015, Pardew has been in charge of 79 games, winning 33, drawn 14 and lost 32 with a win percentage of 41.77%.

However, in 2016, things have taken a real turn for the worse in South London. Crystal Palace have picked up just 26 points from a possible 108 available in the Premier League, with the Eagles winning just one of their last 11 games, losing eight.

The time has come to move on from Alan and search for a new manager. Ex-Birmingham boss Gary Rowett and former West Ham, Newcastle and England manager Sam Allardyce have been linked.
