# Allardyce brings in psychoanalyst to help players

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has sought the help of a psychoanalyst to help his players avoid relegation.

As reported by the [Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/765960/Sam-Allardyce-Crystal-Palace-Premier-League-psychoanalyst), the former England boss has hired Lee Richardson, who he worked closely with during his time working at Blackburn, earlier in his career.

Palace are now 19th in the Premier League following last weekend’s unexpected 4-0 defeat at home against Sunderland, who are also battling to avoid relegation.

Following their defeat to Sunderland, the Palace players were forced to come in on the next day, which would have been a day off, at 7 am to train and review the game.

They’ll be hoping to set the record straight when they travel to Stoke this weekend looking to get their survival bid back on track.

Allardyce has never been relegated from the Premier League and has often spoken of his pride with regards to that, but appears to face the toughest test of his career at Selhurst Park after taking over from Alan Pardew.
