# Palace keen to sign Southampton man this summer

Sam Allardyce and Crystal Palace have identified out-of-favour Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez as a possible summer transfer target.

As reported by the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/crystal-palace-weighing-up-summer-10272032) this evening, the [Eagles](https://readcrystalpalace.com/) are keen to bolster their attacking reinforcements by bringing the out-of-favour Saints forward to Selhurst Park.

Rodriguez hasn’t had the best of seasons for Saints so far, struggling yet again with injury problems and failing to really cement a place in Claude Puel’s starting line-up.

The one-time England international was due to go out on loan in the summer transfer window but a late equaliser against [Sunderland](https://readsunderland.com/) changed Puel’s mind, seeing Rodriguez play at St Mary’s for the season.

[Palace](https://readcrystalpalace.com/) have endured a difficult season but look to have set themselves far enough away from the relegation zone to secure their [Premier League](https://readpl.com/) status ahead of the coming season.

Sam Allardyce doesn’t have many striking options at his disposal aside from Christian Benteke and the experienced, potentially available option of Rodriguez would be a plausible signing this summer.
