# Palace confident over Defoe deal

Crystal Palace are feeling confident about their chances of landing relegated striker Jermaine Defoe this summer, beating the likes of West Ham and Bournemouth.

Sources have told [ESPN](https://www.espnfc.com/story/3122413/crystal-palace-confident-over-summer-move-for-jermain-defoe-sources) that Sam Allardyce is confident he can secure a deal that will see the striker return to London this summer.

Defoe is free to leave Sunderland for nothing this summer following their relegation to the Championship due to a clause in his contract.

Both Bournemouth and West Ham, two of Defoe’s former clubs, have been also been linked with moves for the player, whilst Allardyce will know him well having worked with him at Sunderland.

A defeat to Bournemouth confirmed Sunderland’s relegation, while Palace themselves still require at least one more victory to secure their status in the top flight for next season.

Despite playing in a team fighting against the drop all season, Defoe has netted an impressive 15 times and would represent a great piece of business for any side.
