# Benteke loving life at Crystal Palace

Christian Benteke has insisted that he is still happy at Crystal Palace, in light of the departure of Sam Allardyce from the club recently.

The Belgium international flourished under the one-time England manager and arguably had his best spell of the season while being managed by Allardyce. However, his exit hasn’t fazed him and he is still loving life at Selhurst Park.

Allardyce’s announcement that he was to leave Palace was hugely surprising to the footballing world, with the general consensus among the public, and seemingly Palace’s board themselves, being that he was ready and willing to lead them into the 2017/18 campaign.

Benteke told [Sky Sports News HQ](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11706/10903400/christian-benteke-happy-despite-sam-allardyces-surprise-crystal-palace-exit) of his shock at Allardyce’s exit but cooled any potential fears that he would leave the club this summer, and backed his former manager’s decision.

> It was a surprise for me. I was on holiday when I heard. He’s a big man, he knows what he’s doing.

> I’m still happy because I am playing the way I want to play and the last few weeks the team did well.

The powerful striker will now hope to enjoy a successful second season with the Eagles when the Premier League returns in August.
