# Palace board discussing deal for Louis van Gaal

Steve Parish and the Crystal Palace board have discussed the possibility of appointing former Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal this summer.

The [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/ex-manchester-united-boss-louis-10553433) reports that the Dutchman is on the radar of both Palace and Southampton, who are also thought to be on the lookout for a new manager with Claude Puel disappointing many in his first season in charge.

Van Gaal is thought to be frustrated with the way things ended in Manchester and is ready for another go at the Premier League.

The former Holland manager will be in Manchester this weekend to watch Michael Carrick’s testimonial, sparking rumours he could also be interested in a return to the Premier League.

Van Gaal has been out of work since his sacking at Old Trafford and would been seen as a cheaper option for Palace, who would not have to pay another club any compensation for his services.
