# Crystal Palace and Tottenham keen on Ajax defender

Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen to sign Joel Veltman from Ajax this summer.

Frank de Boer is looking almost certain to be named as the Eagles’ new manager ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, and the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/crystal-palace-ready-back-incoming-10687601) are reporting that he wants to sign Veltman from his old club.

De Boer began his managerial career with the Dutch giants and it would come as no surprise to see him return to Ajax for reinforcements to bolster his Palace squad.

Veltman has been a consistently impressive performer for Ajax over the years and has shown his quality for both club and country.

Palace are in need of a new central defender this summer and with them seemingly priced out of a move for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho, Veltman would certainly be a shrewd addition.

However, Tottenham appear keen on strengthening their defensive options and would probably have the upper hand on Palace if they were to make a move.
