# Palace keen to sign Barcelona man

Crystal Palace boss Frank de Boer is reportedly plotting an ambitious swoop to bring Jasper Cillessen from Barcelona to Selhurst Park.

According to a report from the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/frank-de-boer-keen-barcelona-10766480) this evening, the newly appointed Eagles chief is keen to acquire a new goalkeeper this summer and has identified the Netherlands international as the perfect candidate.

Steve Mandanda was signed to be Palace’s number one ‘keeper last summer but the move hasn’t worked out as planned, and the 32-year-old is set to re-join Marseille in the near future.

Cillessen hasn’t had the best of luck since joining Barca from Ajax, playing mainly as second fiddle to Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

De Boer enjoyed a successful period of time with the goalkeeper, having signed him for Ajax initially.

Cillessen is an undoubtedly capable goalkeeper with experience behind him and many years ahead of him.

Palace haven’t yet made a summer signing, but bringing in a player like Cillessen would certainly make a statement.
