# Tosun discusses failed Palace move

Crystal Palace were understood to have been close to securing a deal for Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun.

The Turkish international was heavily linked with a move away from his homeland throughout the course of the summer, and it looked as though a move to Palace was very much on the cards.

Reports widely suggested that the Eagles had a €13.5 million offer for Tosun accepted by Besiktas and this is something that the player himself has since confirmed.

However, as quoted by [Turkish-Football](https://turkish-football.com/revealed-crystal-palace-completed-e13-5m-international-striker-cenk-tosun-besiktas-transfer-made-bid-one-week-earlier/), the 26-year-old claims that he would have signed for Palace if they had made the offer a week earlier. The Eagles were simply too late in their approach to sign Tosun.

Palace were on the lookout for a new striker throughout the course of the summer as they looked to complement Christian Benteke, adding depth to their reinforcements up top.

Frank de Boer’s side also saw a deal to land Everton outcast Oumar Niasse fall through on the final day of the window.
